“We believe that doing the right thing to protect the planet is everyone’s duty.”

These are our principles:

Naturally green

We use renewable energy produced by solar panels.

We manage our water in an efficient way, you might not know that water can be planted! To protect the water in our farm, we planted more than 300 deciduous trees that will help to maintain the life and water in the soil. We work constantly to improve the soil and forest around us. We work to ensure our carbon

Small scale production

We make our products in small batches to ensure they are as fresh and effective as possible. Our production team fills labels and pack our products before checking every single item by hand, to ensure quality and consistency.

Recycling, Reducing waste

We work to reuse, recycle, and recover energy – our aim is to avoid waste.
The waste we produce is separated into 6 different ways:

  • Organic compost — vegetable material from the farm and unprocessed raw kitchen scraps
  • Animal Food-Leftover vegetables or fruit from the garden or kitchen
  • Plastics
  • Glass
  • Card and Paper
  • Landfill garbage
Plastic

We try to use plastic as little as possible, only using it when there are no other viable options.

Packaging

We use recyclable and reusable packaging. Our objectives are to minimize waste and support the continued use of our packaging.

We use bags made from sustainably sourced card or organic cotton and glass bottles.

Detergents

To clean our facilities and instruments we use ecological and biodegradable detergents.

We promote

The use of local resources, such as the use of animal manure, green fertilizers (plants), the use of shredded remains of pruning wood to use as fertilizer and we ensure that all olive leaves obtained at olive picking time are recycled as a natural soil fertilizer, we practice crop rotation and mixed cropping.

Oaks
Ingredients

We only use high-quality natural ingredients to create our formulas, and ethical, organic production and harvest methods are high on our list of sourcing priorities.

Helping local people and community

We employ local people and we try whenever possible, to work with local companies. We support the local community through charity donations, donations for education such as books and other material for school libraries and after school clubs and cultural activities.

We say No to GMO, synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and synthetic fragrances or aromas.

Sheeps
Animals

Our animals are a great help to us, improving and keeping our soil fertile, so they are very important to us, they are all free-range and lead very happy lives.

We prepare their food at the farm making feeds with organic cereals, to ensure that their origin is from a sustainable source.

keeping the bees happy

Bees are under threat, with over half of bee species have declined in the past years and more than 90% of wildflower meadows have disappeared since the middle of XX century. On our farm we have happy bees that produce our delicious organic honey, we work all year round for them promoting biodiversity, fields with wildflowers and original trees such as the “Carvalho-negral Quercus pyrenaica”, a protected tree in the natural Park of São Mamede.
